In terms of concept and definition, a society is formed when people sharing common belief, thoughts, ideas and culture live together in a common geographical location. There is a complex interconnection of entities and relationships between different society members.
On philosophical considerations, philosophers claim that society is formed as a result of a social contract – which is known as Social Contract Theory. It means that all the individuals are connected through commitments that they all will work together to make a better theory. Individuals together form a shared and structured community and establish governance. The basic questions addressed in this philosophy are what is origin of authority in society and how individuals work together to a make a structured society.
On the other hand institution means any organized system in society, be it formal or informal, which serves a specific function in society such as education, healthcare, governance etc. On philosophical considerations, institutional-ism focuses that how human behavior and society is influenced by the institutes and how institutes play a role in democratic process and problem solving.
