Philosophical Perspective of human existence in universe

In the previous blogs we have discussed Introduction of Philosophy, Branches and Importance of Philosophy and now are going to understand the perspective of human existence according to philosophy. A central theme in philosophy is exploration of human beings existence in this universe. Following are some points that elaborate the human existence in this universe on philosophical grounds:


Existentialism

The philosophers who follow this pathway argue that radical freedom and responsibility are the hallmarks of human existence in this universe. For example Jean-Paul Sartre in his book “Being and Nothingness” argued the same concept. According to this pathway each human must have its own thought process and mindset to create its own meanings and perceptions in indifferent universe.


Absurdism

This concept, regarded as “Absurd” argues that human existence in this universe may seem useless but in fact each human being is compelled to create its own meanings of reality and existence.


Dualism

This philosophy of existence proposes that human beings have dual nature. They have materialistic bodies which is like an armor where soul dwells and immaterial mind. This 2 dimensional nature of human beings raises questions about relationship between mind and body.


Humanism


This philosophy poses human being as autonomous entity and human beings have authority and power of self governance. It focuses on vitality of human beings in shaping the society.


Monism

This philosophy believes in “One Power” and in this human beings are regarded as a part of one mighty indivisible reality.


Pragmatism

This philosophy is concerned with finding out the impact of belief system on human beings. It means that it covers religious and spiritual experiences and beliefs’ influence on existence of human beings.

Nihilism

This philosophy is concerned with challenging and contradicting the traditional beliefs and concepts about existence of human beings. According to this traditional sources of meanings and values may be challenged for authentication or they maybe discarded and disbelieved.


Ecological Philosophy

Environmental philosophers consider human beings as an inter-webbed entity of environment and ecosystems. This philosophy also covers the role of human beings in preserving and working for environment and relationship of humans with real world.
